Lloyd, That's pretty cool!

I have been looking at this - If I didn't already have a good BBQ, this would be on the short list to purchase. $279 complete is not a bad price at all!

Camper Grill, portable camper grill, bumper mount

Lloyd. That is what the maker of the BBQ sells. It would be to low to work for me. I want something about waist level.
Thanks

I agree on the height issue....when I made the rail for our 5th wheel it actually was too high.....that's why you'll see in the pic with that thread where I had to step it down after it cleared the storage compartment door ....finally got it at a comfortable height.

I have one of these coming on the camper I ordered. Is there any concern about heat that close to the wall?

Roo. Seem's there are adjustments on them. However if it came equipped that way i am sure it is safe. Not like someone like me doing the install.

We had one on our rig. Sold it. Why? similar concerns - and not only the concerns about being so close to the RV side, the BBQ was (in my case) situated *under* the awning. That, to me, was a recipe for either disaster with a flare up or, at the least, a nasty clean up requirement after every cookout. This is why I am intrigued with the units that swing out from your bumper and are away from both the side of the camper and the awning.

Just my thoughts - YMMV

I didn't even think about the awning but fair point. I was more worried about the heat. I still ordered it as I wanted to make sure I had the track and the shelf. I wonder if there is something I could rig up behind it as sort of a heat deflector?

I am going to tap in to the LP system with black gas pipe and run it out the the side by the BBQ. It will be next to the trailer frame. Any mounting suggestions?
Thanks again

We've used one since 08 and never had the awning retracted while using it, that's what the awning is for is to cover that area. The heat is dissipated before it has any effect on the awning and there is no splashing on the camper side as the lid protects the sidewall. A lot of unwarranted concern IMHO.

My guess it that you'll need to break open the nearest union or tee and add in another, so you'll be needing a flexible whip to connect to the QC. Protect that whip with some automotive split-loom IMO, and then use stainless, cushioned loop clamps to secure. If your black pipe runs at the bottom flange of the frame rail like on most enclosed underbellies, you might be able to not use a whip at plumb with black pipe. If you do that, be sure to support that short length with a hanger so it doesn't come loose in travel! Finally, make sure the QC is tucked under a bit so you don't snag anything!

My grill I added on our 5th wheel was near the front(front storage compartment) so I broke into my propane line where my flex hose from my tanks connected to the cast iron pipe...put a "t" there...got with my local plumbing store to make sure of correct threads, added fittings and then added the Quick Connect to the end....got the QC and a 10 ft QC hose from Amazon and it connects to my grill. I've since added a couple of hangers to help support this attachment during travel.

Be careful with thread sizes....some of the fittings at Home Depot had different threads than the threads on the Quick Connect pieces....I kept leaking when I would put it together even with the yellow teflon tape...finally went to my local plumbing store to get my fittings and the guys there made sure everything had the right threads...might not be a problem for you but was for me.....check all propane connections for leaks.

Got a 90º fitting attached it to my main gas line then ran a 3' 1/2 gas pipe out to the side (not all the way) where the BBQ will be. The main line runs north and south and the added on line runs east and west just under the main line. Need an idea on how to stabilize the added on line where it meets the main line.
Thanks guys
Mike
