Bed/ward/closet modification

Trying to make more space when I sleep. The "ward" or closet is right in my face laying in bed. Has anyond ever cut this, or modified it to take out the closet at least to the headboard trim? Then try to seal it off...so its a short closet. Im just trying to get more ideas of how I can lay on my side and not stare right at the side of the closet, and give me more room if I want to extend an arm or something.

about that...I'm 6'1 and my feet hang off as is. So that wouldn't work even if I wanted it to.

That's always bothered me too. DW is claustraphobic and resents it but puts up with it.

Funny enough we are considering the same thing, kind of. We have a very similar layout except on the starboard side we already have like a night table setup, on the port side we have the full hanging cabinet like you have on both sides. Prior to buying our TT we had rented a 2006 23FB that had the night table on BOTH sides, with outlets on both sides and a very large pass-through storage underneath from outside. We liked that configuration a lot due to its comfort at night, a little more roomy feeling, and somewhere to put your phone down and maybe a tissue box and a glass of water, your glasses... ya know, night table stuff. We might miss the storage a LITTLE bit but we really don't need the hanging storage in particular, and we have another hanging closet in the rear if we did. If we get around to doing this we will certainly post about it and I will try to remember this thread to update about it here, I'd be very interested to see what you come up with. Our trailer is a little older so we're not too worried about "ruining it" by making modifications to the cabinetry. I am a hobbyist woodworker with a pretty well equipped shop so all I really need to do is find the time. My biggest concern is where to safely screw into, and trying to keep things light weight, which i'm not used to having to worry about, so it changes things a little from what I'm used to.

put a mirror there ..... j/k .... Just got a new unit and have same issue. I'm only 5' 6" and hang off , but thinking I can extend foot end a few more inches might help me.

My TT is configured with nightstands (including drawer) on both sides up to mattress height, 14" open space, then a cabinet up to the ceiling. Maybe you can call your RV manufacturer to see if they make those cabinets that will fit your unit. Or build your own. You can also carefully remove your existing cabinets, remove as much space as you want, add a nightstand top and cabinet bottom and replace. Just some ideas.

Our Surveyor had the same wardrobe closets you have. The problem I had was that the bedroom was open to the main area of the trailer and the noise from the A/C seemed to resonate between those two cabinets making it almost impossible to sleep without a sleep-aid. Our Avenger has the half size (shirt closets) and it is much less of a sound chamber.

We extended our mattress by adding a piece of industrial foam (9”x9”x60”) at the head of the bed. The pillows lay over the foam thus making the mattress “longer”. Industrial foam is denser and firmer than the “craft store” foam.

We use a cheap body pillow we already had at the house. Just smash it in there....

This was one of the reasons I was drawn to my camper. Only a closet on one side. I felt trapped laying in beds with both closets while shopping.
