On our last motorhome I replaced the crank up TV with a crank up satellite that I got used on Ebay for around $100. Can't really beat that price.

As much as I would like the automatic unit, I just couldn't justify the cost for the 6-8 times a year we go out. Especially if we are out running around most of the time anyways.
TV would be nice on the week long or longer trips though.
Anyways, What is the deal with the 150 dollar crank up dish I see advertised? it only has one LNB? will this work with my dish network receivers? Do you have to manually move it to get certian channels?

The single LNBs will tune in one satellite at a time. This means you won't get some of your chanels and probably wont get your HD. On our crank up we had I always would tune the 119 bird as it had the locals and most other programming. HD is on their 129 bird I think and the 110 is all the other miscellaneous stuff that isn't on the 119. The 110 and 119 were fairly close to each other (within about 5 degrees azimuth I think) so if you found one the other wasn't far away so it is possible to manually move the dish if you really want to see something on the other bird.

Good to hear Ed.
I will keep my eyes peeled for a used crank up dish. Was the mounting exactly the same as the old crank up TV ant? or does it take a bunch of new holes?

I just removed the crank up tv antenna and mounted the dish in it's place. More or less it's the same type of mounting. Not all that hard.
