Smile Berkshire over cab bed install?

Hello Forest River community - our first post!

We are in the market for a Berkshire 390BH and super excited about being able to get out on the open road and enjoy the RV lifestyle - sounds like everyone is having lots of fun out there

We have three kids (hence the BH) but really loved seeing some of the Class C motorhomes which had the automated bed situated above the cab. They seemed to be pretty simple hydrolic arms to drop down the bed which rested on supports on two sides.

Does anyone know if such a customization has been performed on a Berkshire before? Any hints where we may find somewhere that would do this or reasons why we should not?

Many thanks and great forum glad we found it!

Welcome to the forum. Can't really answer your question, but I have a Berk and the more I use it, the more I love it. Also, I have found factory support to be awesome.....they do care about you after the sale. Good luck and enjoy making some great memories with your family!

I have never heard of that being installed, but it may be possible. I saw one on a Palazzo, it came from the factory installed.

Just an FYI, we have a '13 390BH, we bought it for the bunks also. We sometimes camp with 6 grownups. We have never used the bunks for sleeping. We use them to store all the clothes. My grown kids and significant others sleep on the table bed and sofa bed.

Bunk usage

We are thinking that the bunks get used because the kids are going to bed a bit earlier than the adults while they are still young and so having them gives us the flexibility to still be awake.

That said when we rented an RV to try this whole thing out we were so tired at the end of each day we just fell asleep; but I'm kinda hoping that the massive cool TV screen will be used for something other than kids shows every now and again!

Back to the bed over the cab install I had hoped to find a company who offered it as a standard after market product - maybe I need to find out who makes them for the Palazzo and see if they will sell one to a Berkshire owner

We were also thinking about installing this over the cab bed in Berkshire. The difference between Berk and other MH that have them (Thor Plazzo, Forest River Legacy, Winnebago/Itasca Forza and one Fleetwood model) is that Berk is 6" wider, so you can't use "off the shelf" parts. On the other hand, everything is possible depending how much money you are willing to throw at it.

I was assured though, that it is not going to be cheap.
