the slide is right over the pass through door on passenger side and almost exactly at head height. When I have a hat on I don't see it and if I don't have a hat on it hurts worse (bald). I also have the pin box cover from these guys. How many have whacked themselves on the pin box?
I LIKE your source's idea for pin box padding. Too bad it does not cover the bottom. I have to work around mine at home and worry I will hit my head. I will have to fashion one of those the next time suitable material shows up for free in shipping containers. I will make mine pad the pin and bottom side as well.

For many "head bump hazards" around house and camp, I also use flagging tape as a warning. Every RV or TV should carry flagging tape.

I have the pin box pad and it does have a bottom with a slot to slide the pin through. The bottom of the pin is flush with the bottom of the pad, you could still raise up and hit it but you won't bump it.

OUCH! Came close to doing that on a buddies 5er, was walking under his overhang, stood up when I cleared it and ran smack dab into his bedroom slide and I was in full stride and standing up, put me down to my knees and left a gash in the top of my head that is still a visible scar and this was about 5 years ago. I try to avoid walking/stooping under the overhang at all costs since then.

My problem is my front storage door under the overhang. I crack my head on the door all the time. A month ago i hit so hard it ripped my head open and i was wearing a hat. Had blood all over the inside. My wife suggested i wear a hard hat when i’m outside working on anything.

I keep smacking my head on the side mirrors on my e450 class c when putting leveler pads up front. Wife now spots me since I suffer from C.R.S. ( Cant Remember Shineola).

I suffer the more advanced affliction of that disease...CRFS!

I'll let you fill in the blanks for what the 'F' stands for.

My ex used to call it "Halfinhiemers".

Funny how those of us in or near retirement age child-proofed our homes years ago to protect our children and now we're adult-proofing our RV's to protect ourselves.
