Best Way to Attach Vinyl Fence Post Sewer Hose Mod to Frame

I think the line says it all! I’ve read a lot of posts and seen a lot of photos showing and talking about the mod, but not how to actually attach it to the frame. If you’ve done this, how did you attach it?

I attached mine with a roll of metal banding from the plumbing section. just install with sheet metal screws into something solid. short screws to hold the banding to the fence post too.

Here is how I did it I had some SS strap 2" x whatever to fit around post. I then bent them so they had ears and drilled the ears to mount to frame and bolted so that it pulled it tight to frame. I also put 1/2" spacer on one end to let tube drain.

I used beam clamps to the frame with 1/4" all thread and a pieces of 3/4" aluminum plate to position the posts. I will take a picture when at storage next.

I used small (#10-32) all thread and aluminum plywood edge metal to attach to the bottom of the rear bumper.

There are many ways. Here are some ideas:

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ss-163454.html

Mine is Post #12. No drilling in the frame required.

Put it on my Roo 19 first (2nd pic) and then painted it black and easily moved it to my Mini Lite (1st pic).

I would be interested in how you attached your post caps.

For the post itself, giant nylon zip ties. These things are used to hold packing around hot water tanks. Contractor gave me a whole bundle of them years ago. Have been very handy over the ages. Down to my last 3.

For the post caps, drilled 3 relatively small (1/8th) maybe holes in each side of the end of the post about 2" down and one more in the center of the cap itself. Used super small bungees, opened a cotter pin and threaded it onto a bungee, stuck that one in the center hole of the cap, stuck two more in the two holes in the sides of the post and clipped the cap on with the bungees. You can pull the cap off and let it rest under or on top of the tube without having to unhook anything. Works really slick. Not my idea, I stole it from another thread about a year ago.

All thread rod with nylock nuts up through aluminum angle and frame. The end cap, small cotter pins and small springs.

If you have a 6 point level up system tham this is what I did. Using a angle steel and them drill holes to line up with extra holes in the ram housing and then a u bolt or 2 bolts with a backer to hold the fence post.*1-800-738-6337Click image for larger version

I used 6" PVC pipe and hung it the same as your did. For my caps I drilled a hole on the top and used a lynch pin, I cut the outside piece off, to hold the cap in place. I also attached the pin and cap to a chain and then to the TT so I wont lose either. After reading the earlier post using large zip ties the next tube I mount will be with those. I will use two on each side. Those large zip ties can be purchased at Home Depot in or around duct work,

used some brass cabinet hinges from home depot and used rivets with the head on the inside and a rivet washer on the hinge side. then used a chrome latch on the other side also mounted with rivets in the same fashion. Has the other end just with fence cap riveted on and some drain holes drilled in bottom because that end is sloped that way for drainage also other reason is gas line runs above it. has worked for years with no problems.

I used stainless steel ties instead of nylon and drilled opposing holes in the caps and used a 6" stainless screw with wingnut.

To mount the post tube, I marked where it aligns with the frame and drilled ~ 1 1/4" hole in one side and a 1/4" hole in the other. I then held it in place (with a floor jack) and continued the 1/4" hole up through the frame. I used a socket wrench with an extension to lift a 1/4-20 bolt with a fender washer up through the 1 1/4" hole, and through the 1/4" hole and frame. A self locking nut on top holds every thing in place. You can use a larger washer if you drill a larger hole or if you can reach down inside the post tube to the 1/4" hole from the end of the tube. (You will still need the 1 1/4" hole to tighten the bolt.) The large hole also allows the tube to drain.

To hold the end cap on, I drilled a 1/8" hole through the side of the end cap and tube when it was in place. I put a (slightly spread) cotter pin through the hole to keep the cap from sliding off.

I attached mine with two " U " bolts that my mechanic made in his shop for me Drilled through the frame and used lock washers and nuts.

My posts were mounted to the frame with angle brackets from HD and 10-32 self tapping screws. The end caps are held in place with mini bungee chords (borrowed that idea from one of the folks on this forum). Quick & simple!

Maybe a dumb question but why do this at all? I have two hoses in the bumper and keep the fittings in a box in the pass through. Was a different story on my toy hauler with no bumper but never got around to doing this.

Just curious, maybe I'm missing something.
