Has anyone used the SR 3000 over a year. How does it hold up, are there any problems?

I have used a "Hollywood" bike rack (bike tires sit in cradles) on the back of my Executive Series Tracer. In order to use this rack I had a 2" receiver installed on the back of my trailer. The receiver is welded to the frame of the trailer to give it extra strength. This worked extremely well on my last trailer. Be aware of the forces on the back of an RV with respect to vertical movement. This is why I have selected the rack I use as well as the method of attaching the receiver to the trailer.

Wafer. Thanks so much for that information. I was asking about a specific model the 3000 that mounts in the front above the propane tanks.

Spare removed

In order to take some weight off the bumper assy., I have decided to remove the spare tire and wheel and place it in the truck bed with the extra spare that I have brought for the truck. This should take the most weight off that area at one time. The bikes and rack weigh about half as the spare tire and wheel.

This is one of the ladder mounted racks with two bikes that we thought we would try although after hanging the bikes on it, I'm not sure that ladder was ever meant to take the load.
I think I'm going back to the good old hitch mounted rack we've used for years on our SUV. If we end up pulling a tow this might be a problem but, I'll probably just hang the bikes on the tow or use the roof rack on the tow.

Bike rack

On the bike rack the bike tires fit down in the end pieces then velcro straps go around tire. The bike rack did not come with the travel Tray it was from a bike rack that mounts on the rear bumper of trailer. Not in the photo is a 3/4" square tube that goes up by the bike closes to trailer just a little extra support to keep bikes from leaning into front of trailer. Will take another picture and post here to show the bike rack better.

Decided to make what I will call an investment ( its pricey)in an Arvika bike rack. We just travelled about 1500km from Kingston, Ontario, to Cavendish, PEI and it worked quite well with 4 bikes.

Like those but did not want to pay the price. Since i only put 2 bikes the setup I use works good. Guess it would be possible to modify for 4 but then you probably would have almost as much in it. Like yours with 4 bikes looks good.

I like it! DW was talking about taking the bikes with the tt. I tried to explain how to carry them on the front and she couldn't wrap her head around the idea. The picture would explain it a lot better.

This set-up works out great for us. My husband is 6'5" so he's the one who gets the bikes off the Tahoe.
By the way, this was our first outing in our Cruise Lite 241 just this past week. We had a blast.

Factory hitch

Our 5er came with a 1 1/4 in receiver hitch bolted on the rear to the frame. I used it on one trip this summer to carry our two bikes. What a mistake, the bikes bounced so much it damaged the back of the camper. I tried ever thing to try to control it from bouncing. I am now in the process of getting that hitch removed and have a heavier 2 in receiver installed. On our last 5er I had a 2 in receiver welded to the frame and I towed a boat with no bounce or problems. If you are going to mount a hitch make sure it is to the frame not the bumper and have it done by a hitch shop. One last thing, remember why all kids want to ride in the back of the bus on a bumpy road.
