Bike Rack
I was looking for a bike rack that didn't have to go on the rear of the trailer or the front of the truck. After searching I came across some systems that mounted on the hitch A frame of the trailer. I mocked up a bracket and bike carrier out of wood to see what the clearances were. The canopy hit the bikes on a sharp turn(turning around in a cull-de-sac/jack knife condition). With this being unacceptable because of the places we go boon docking, I came up the idea of putting the bike rack on the hitch receiver shank. The rack it self is a Swagman 64663 designed for use on an RV. I purchased an extended length shank for the receiver head(went from a 10" to a 14")Then I designed and built a receiver to slide over the new shank. I then designed and built an upper shank to fit in the receiver I built and to fit the bike rack. Now when turning sharp, the bikes are above the propane tank cover with lots of clearance. Pictures to follow.
