I strongly recommend against doing this. Neither the bumper ( actually just a sewer hose storage box) nor the frame is strong enough to support that. There will be people that will say " I do this all the time with no problems", but there are also people who will say" I did that and it damaged the bumper or frame" The rack and hitch are much stronger than the bumper.

Called Lippert about raising 5th wheel suspension and ask them about bike racks cause frames to crack. When the guy stop laughing he ask me if I have ever been a RV with rear kitchen with the stove, refrigerator, kitchen cabinets on the back wall packed full of pots and pans and food that weighs in excess of 2000 lbs within foot of the back bumper bouncing down the road. Then he said if you told me the bumper falling off I might agreed that someone didn't do good job of welding it and the majority of frames we produce don't leave with bumper installed so those are suspect.

I think these would help with people worried about the welds.

Safely Strengthen Your RV Bumper With 4SQUAREâ„¢ SafetyStrutsâ„¢

OR

You could go Lippert page that makes about 90% of RV frames and check out the catalog on Lippert site and order the one they make that attaches to the rear of RVs. I think it was page 26 of Lippert catalog that listed bike racks and cargo platforms. Since they made the frames they should know if it can take the weight without causing the frame to crack.... LOL

question is, which frames was the Lippert guy talking about?

regular TT/5th wheel frames OR ultralite frames? BIG difference.

Check out Lippert webpage and download the catalog you will see that Lippert makes bike rack and cargo platform that installs on back of RVs. Here is the link to page on Lippert site and page that has the catalog... Download the PDF and look on page 26. It is dealer installed option that doesn't void the warranty. They can hold up to 400lbs

Looks like something one should order when placing an order for a new camper. However I did see some new campers at Goshen on display that came with them. Later RJD

I looked at the storage system and this is an OEM (ordered with camper manufacture) option only. They will not sell this to a dealer except to replace one that was damaged.

Tailgate® Storage Systems

"LCI only sells this product to aftermarket dealers, distributors, or retail customers on a warranty replacement basis. If you own this product and need it replaced, please call our customer support hotline at 574-537-8900."

Additionally, there seems to be a disconnect as to ratings.

LCI offers multiple ways to easily take your bikes along for the ride. Our sliding bike racks not only conveniently store your bikes while towing, but also double as additional storage for large bulky items. How? The open construction of the LCI sliding bike rack and self storing bike post allows for storage of just about anything. Other advantages include:

Our folding bike racks come in an aluminum or black powder coat finish
Like our sliding bike racks, the bike rack arm easily detaches when not in use
When in the "up" position, the rack is held in place by two heavy-duty pins
Folding bike racks are rated up to 150 pounds
Quick Facts

Twin dial rolling arms
Two position locking arms
250-pound storage capacity
powder-coated steel frame provides protection from the elements and worry-free maintenance
Bike rack easily removes if needed

This option is not available from any manufacturer on Ultralite frames that I am aware of. It is available as an option on heavyweight frames (larger 13K and up GVWR 5th wheels and trailers).
