Blinker Repeaters
All,
I searched the forums, but I couldn't find a thread. Maybe I searched the wrong keyword. Anyway...
Has anyone added blinker repeaters to their TT? I was thinking of adding a couple along each side so people can see my signal. I was shocked to realize how far up along the trailer you have to be before you can see the truck blinker.
I figure I can install them along the skirting at the bottom and tap into the blinker wires.
Any good sources for bright repeaters?

Yeah, I was surprised that there wasn't any on the side of the trailer, but then I figured they probably don't make em that way on purpose and never questioned it. If they ignore the one on the back of the trailer, oh well, they'll move when 7000-8000 lbs of wall moves into their way.

Here's what just occurred to me:
If I mount some marker lights and tap into the yellow and green wires, the marker lights would work as blinkers.
However, they would also come on when I tap the brakes. This could cause a driver on either side to think I'm turning if I'm coming up to a light (or could cause me to get a ticket).
So, unless someone knows something I don't about the wiring, I think I'm out of luck with doing this easily.

jonnys_walkers, IchLeibeBier is looking to mount turn signals half way down the side of the trailer, not on the rear of the trailer. I think the sequential turn signal are cool. IchLeibeBier,it would only look like you were turning if you were tapping the brake numerous times in succession. I doubt you would get ticketed for the side turn signals coming on with the brake lights.

Back in the 80's we were putting side signal lights on our semi trailers. They were setup like this and the scale in Kamloops gave us tickets after tickets as well as others. Transport trailers have not been set up like this for years now.
Would they go after a travel trailer? Not sure cause ticketing transport units is much easier and there is more money to be made.

I agree with Grizzly, If you mount this on the side it is either going to point to the front or the back and someone ( most people) are not going to have a clue......Waste of time and money, now on the back, they would work great.

I would just change your break lights to the LED'S they have out they are about 10 x's brighter. Many members have done that.

I think I may instead put one of those LED arrow blinkers on the truck mirrors. That way folks can at least see a blinker easily.

I never thought of that. I may have to add them to the tow vehicle also.
