bumper end cap

I wanted to share this sewer hose bumper end cap. they came out in the 70's and then mysteriously went off the market in a rumored patent infringement case. I was thinking of getting some made when they just popped back on the market. they may be public domain and should be cheaper but they are great none the less. you use the set screw to mount to the bumper and the cap just pivots. gravity holds it closed quite well. no more plastic and rubber caps that usually just dont work...

And it would be nice if the bumpers were still 4".

Looks like hornets would have a tough time getting in, too.

whad they do???...change them on me?? OK Bob...I bit. I went and checked all our 2014 and 2015 FR units on the lot. They and the 2014 Tioga all have the 4" bumper. So... you need a 4" like Bob says. Thank You Bob for pointing that out...your handy to have around here unlike some of us...

edit...you cant see the slot in the dowel very well. it just slides over the bumper and then the set screw tightens.

We also used to store the hose in there....the i.d. of my bumper won't allow it and maybe a good thing, as the hose doesn't get holes rubbed thru it anymore and your shoes will thank you.

enter the "great sewer hose bumper debate"...lol All good points. Some times the MFG puts the seam of the bumper flash weld on the bottom, other than an errant line trimmer, a hoses worst nightmare. None of the FR units I saw had that. I think that maybe the newer adapters with their dimensions might be the greatest deterrent. Ive got one that works..I'll post if anyone wants to see it. otherwise I'll just cower away sulking that my idea got trashed by Caldwell...

Come-on now, I'm not that bad.......well, maybe...........but the doors would make for a lot more options for the space...... flagpoles and such. Or, with the 4th just around the corner, a M80 could re-conture it to fit your desired needs.

no...the flag poles would need a "sewer hose bumper flag pole pad" and those wont be invented for years...and the M-80 contour idea is good, but then the wasps would get in beecause the cap doesnt match the contour anymore...its hopeless
