Calling All Kayakers!

Just purchased a new Class C and wondering how folks travel with kayaks.

Does anyone have mods or racks to take their yaks on the road? Pictures would be awesome!

Best way I think is a verticle rack, plugged into the rear hitch. Height limit on your kayas would be approx. 10ft. depending on how high they pop above the roof/AC unit to limit air drag. I'd be curious if others carry their kayaks that way and see pictures as well. There is a company that sells that style, but they are way up there in price.

We bought a snapontop kayak at Dicks sporting goods. They break down into two pieces for a single and three pieces for a tandem. They load easily into pickup bed or small car. I recommend the single. Tandem kayaks are occasionally referred to as divorce kayaks.

I want a Oru:

If you pull a car, on top of that is the best place for them.

I have a Jackson Big Tuna tandem for ocean fishing and to take the grandson out, as for traveling with it , I haven't so far. Due to it being 14 ft and 100 lbs it rides on the wife's Subaru. If we aren't going to travel with the subi I will build a rack on top of my truck to haul it one that goes over the hood to the front bumper.if you have a MH and no tow car get or make a trailer.

Our way around that problem was to go for a toy hauler, all 4 kayaks and 5 bikes fit inside nicely.

We have a Sea Eagle 370 and LOVE that we can just deflate it, roll it up and store it under the dining room seat.

We carry a Mad River 14' canoe on top of the TV with a home made rear rack in the bed of the truck. The canoe weighs 100 lbs with all the additions I've added, but is easy to mount and off load. It's the flipping it upside down that takes finesse. Carry a small trolling motor as I'm too old to paddle far.lol A small bat runs it for two long days.

Our 10 ft boats (2 of them) fit nicely in the back of the 150. Just enough clearance to turn and the Yeti still fits too. Now if winter would just go away...

Yep, Sea Eagle is wonderful. Easy to use, store, setup. Not a racing machine but I really do not care.

Calling All Kayakers!

What Sea Eagle products do you guys have? I have been browsing them for about a year can't decide between kayak or one of the small motor mounts. We just want to tool around the lakes and rivers sightseeing, any suggestions? Glad to read about someone who owns one we were curious about durability etc. they look really easy to set up.

Looking through older posts about kayak's and this is what I did.
Went through all the research on attaching to back of RV, top of RV, building one out of wood for bed of truck and on and on.
Best option by FAR for me is the TracRac. Solid, secure and easy 10 min install when needed. Got mine on Craigslist for $150.
Don't have any pic's of mine but this is what they look like.

We solved the problem by purchasing an inflatable 2 person kayak. Sevylor Colorado. Works great. 40 pounds. Take it anywhere.

Ours is the 370 mentioned above. It says it seats 3 but wellll. It rolls up and fits in one of the basement compartments of the GT. Comes with everything you need except the PFDs. We could carry our kayaks or our canoe on the toad but I didn't want them further extending our overall length.

Hopefully we will get it wet in the Snake River next week depending on water conditions.
