I put some down in my house and it seems to me they were about 50 pounds per box, also. Yes, that would be a lot of weight.

I’m wondering if I should try to pull out of the water this morning or if I can let it sit for 24 hours and wait for the water to go down.

If I try to pull it out this morning I think I will get water in my pick up up to the level of about the top of the driver seat. My pick up Is a ‘16 tundra and it does not seem nearly as robust as my old ‘94 80 series Land Cruiser which I sold. It is a limited w electric seats and leather.

What damage can i expect to the camper if it sits 24 hrs? What damage do you think is already done?

How deep do you think the tundra can go before it stalls?

Thanks,
Steve
I know this happened in Feb., this happened in our yard April 2018. Had a flash flood come through, had 8" of water inside Flagstaff 2017 so hooked up GMC Sierra Duramax truck & pulled it to flat area. Looking back, we should have left the trailer alone, and saved the truck. As yours, water over seats. We refused a repair job, knowing that the walls would eventually have mold & mildew. The slide outs (3) would eventually not work, & on & on! Told them we wanted it totaled out, & they agreed. We lucked out with the insurance co., ended up paying more to us than we owed on trailer ($9,000.00 over what we owed). They were aware of what we owed, but by itemizing everything, they could see we added alot of nice mods. They paid over $13,000.00 on the truck. We did not except anything that could possibly happen in the future. They replaced carpeting knowing the smell would be bad when it dried. So all & all, the trailer was totaled and the truck received new transmission as well as most everything else. We purchased a 2018 trailer as same as totaled one. Was just wondering how you made out? And in case anybody is wondering what kind of insurance we had it was Shelter Ins. They did us well!!

Love the white upper cabinets and blue lowers.

Still surprised this trailer didn't become landfill.

Love it. I would have the bazookas to try that color scheme, but I like it.

Thank You

Thanks so much for the update! It looks like you did a great job — something for you to be proud of.

It’s too bad about the HOA slowing you down. I imagine you already tried, but won’t they give you a little bit of slack? After all, they are your neighbors, right? You’d think they would want to act like good neighbors.

Keep us updated.

Bruce

Awesome job! Your hard work really shows, and now you know that camper inside and out, so if anything ever goes wrong, you are well equipped to handle it.

Congratulations! I hope you get many years of use and enjoyment out of it!

Absolutely an amazing job! I am actually surprised the lack of water damage considering I had a small leak under the cabinet for a short time and the lower cabinet wood swelled badly.

The hard work, time spent and most of all the ingenuity is just remarkable! Not to mention the ability to think outside the box.

Thanks for all the updates along the way and also the video!

You did a great job and continued to stay positive even with all the naysayers . Glad you stuck with it and salvaged your unit !

Hey Sline,

Hopefully you’re still around and will receive an email alert letting you know a post has been added to this thread.

I’m really interested in knowing how everything worked out for you with this. Can you give us an update? I know you posted a video update, but I’m really interested in how things are now, a year later.

Thank you,

Bruce

Hi Nomad297,

I just watched my last update video to see where I left off. Since the video I finished painting the garage.

I discovered my water pump had been submerged during the flood and since then had rusted and locked up. I replaced that with a new one. Then I sprayed Kano on the rusty seized pump and it started working again. Now I have a backup.

The heater still makes noise. Took it to the RV service place and the guy said it is supposed to make that noise and he didn't think i should replace it! It definitely didn't make any noise before the flood so that is funny.

I see one crack in the corner of the door frame between the bathroom and the living room. This was not there when I did my rehab. It is maybe a quarter inch. When I saw that I thought uh oh all the naysayers were right. I observed this in september which is 1.5 years after the flood. Not sure if it is related. We'll see what happens over the next few months or years if we still own it.

And here's the sad news. I'm tired of banging my head on the tops of the doors and the electric bed in the garage. Also our toddler needs a bed to sleep in, instead of in the middle of the living room floor. We are trying to sell it to replace this toy hauler with something that has more beds and higher doors. My wife put the camper on facebook market place a couple weeks ago. Here it is:

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...5161403298590/

Thanks for reading and I appreciate all the encouragement from this group. At the time I didn't have the money to replace this camper so it was a stressful loss. Fortunately the rehab project turned out well. And guess what else -- My wife thought it would be a good idea to have insurance on the camper going forward. So now we have insurance again.
