Cargo Door combo locks

Installed combo locks on all cargo doors. These can also be opened using user set combo or the provided key.

Seem to work well, except I have ordered steel cam lock mounting plates to mount inside doors. This is because the plastic insets forest river put are very easy to turn and open any cam lock that is installed, without unlocking the lock.

Nice

Since most everyone has a common storage compartment key, it would be nice to have a secure lock. Where did you get these?

We never lock the doors or storage area while parked at the storage site. I don’t leave anything in there worth stealing that would offset the destruction of a real thief. Cost me around $3K to repair 2 belly storage areas and the door of our old Sandpiper several years ago.

We don’t lock any storage compartments as a real thief would mess something up really bad

Thank for waking me up.

You got me thinking as i installed the combo locks. I been leaving a set of keys in one of the outside storage compartments. Not no more.

Locks are for honest people.

Someone tried to pry open my outside storage doors once at a storage yard. I have since added four eye bolts to each door and a long shackle pad lock on each door.

I found out that that particular storage yard (I don't use them anymore) rented storage lockers to homeless people. Hmmmmmmmmm

I seriously doubt that a homeless person could afford a storage unit!

Cargo Door Locks

The combo locks are nice but I am waiting for a cargo door lock system that would permit all doors to be locked and unlocked with an electrical switch from inside the camper. Having to go door-to-door to lock them all is a pain.

Actually it happens all the time. Just moved out of San Diego recently and had put stuff in a fairly clean storage facility for a couple for months until it was time to leave. Better than 10 units in my one building (there were 4 buildings that I could see) were rented to homeless folks. The units were small, but enough to put a sleeping bag on the floor. At a cost of only $30 a month, it was shelter at a reasonable cost for their situation. Very uncomfortable feeling going to my unit, but they are humans and they kept to themselves.
