Changing the R001 Key Lock

Posted this on just Cedar Creek earlier and got no response so I'm going to try it here on Modifications:

Looking for information on changing out the slam latches on the storage compartments of our 2014 Sliverback 33RL....I want to get away from the standard R001 key everyone has a copy of....RV Locks and More has a close replacement....anyone done this with success and , if so, what replacement did you use?

I bought new cam locks from them for the same reason and they installed flawlessly. I would bet that their slam latches would as well.

I did the cam locks earlier to get away from the 751 standard key that everyone has.....at that time I did not know the R001 key on the slam latches is just as common to all RV's.

Was looking for someone who has changed out the slam latches before I make the plunge and order....thanks for your response.

Made the change on the Southco R001 latches....used replacement latch from RV Locks and More, part #BLL-40101-2006....close fit...used 1/8" shim on backside....screw post were slightly longer....works great.

I'd like to do the same with our new 2016 FR Wildwood 195BH. In fact during our walkthrough we were recommended to change the storage lock for this very reason. Is there a way to make both the storage and the door locks keyed the same?

I now have changed 2 cam locks and 2 slam latches and have them all keyed alike.....this takes care of all 4 of my storage compartments with 1 key...I could spend $20 and change the entry door lock to match the key for all the compartments and then would be able to use one key on the entire 5th wheel....I have used RV Locks and More for all my lock and key purchases...they have a good web site and also can be contacted for help from their customer service.

Does anyone know offhand what the cam length would be for our storage lock? Their prices are very reasonable and I'd like to get those keyed the same.

The ones on our Silverback varied depending on the door.....I took them out and measured.....they'll come in lengths of 7/8", 1 1/8", or 1 3/8"....the sketch shows where to measure.

Quick question! Could I just order the storage door lock and have it keyed to my existing trailer door locks? There's a G code on my main TT key.

I can't say for sure but I know they use the G301 thru G350 series....I notice they also use a 901 thru 910 series....maybe a phone call to their customer service would answer your question.....my entry door key is of some brand called FIC....for me to get it keyed like my storage compartments, I've got to order a new lock because they can't make that key for that brand....it's not a G series.
