7 dollar reel-less solution

I picked up one of these at Home Depot. 36" Velcro strap and zinc plated hook set, rated for 300 lbs. Will keep the cord together and maybe hang it off somewhere in the front storage area.

edit: Here's a picture of mine

Mind if I ask what the height clearance is? I'd like to do similar with my TT, but the storage compartments are much smaller than the basements of fivers.

I found the item on the Harbor Freight site:
100 Ft. Steel Air Hose Reel

I then found the manual:
http://manuals.harborfreight.com/man...6999/46342.pdf

It looks like:
Reel Dimensions 15”W x 17-1/4”L x 18-1/4”H

Thanks! Now to head to storage. 18" is pretty close to the height of the storage compartment I use for the power/FW hoses.

LOL, nah just trying to be helpful. :-) My basement is so packed full- I have to stick with the 5 gallon bucket and cursing that I use now!

Our CC 38FL came with the cord & reel laying in the basement. Guessed it was up me to figure out where and how to attach it to the floor. After wrestling the full reel to the ground, getting the cord off the reel and using it the first time, I wondered how hard it would be to get it back ON the reel. Suffice it to say, I couldn't get it back on the reel while it was not attached to something. Besides, the reel itself felt like it weighed about 25-30lbs all by itself....So I did what I'd always done: coiled it up on the ground and put it in the basement. Since it's the first thing out and the last thing in, I figure I don't really need a reel anyway and could save the weight for something else

Just measured mine, and as stated, it is 18 1/4 inches. And thats right on the money. I would suggest at least 18 1/2 inches or you may have trouble getting enough clearance.

I just screwed it down with some 3/16"x3/4" long wood screws. I am fixing to build me a slide-out for the other side to access everything in the back of the basement easier. Something like this:

That's a good idea. I wish that drain pipe wasn't right in the middle of it.

I finally got all my stuff together to do this. Forgive me for being paranoid but is there anything under that floor that I'm going to hit with a screw?

Thats why I used 3/4" long screws. I am not for sure but I would bet that the plywood is 3/4".

I not so sure that it is. Easy way to find out, pull a floor vent.
