Just measured mine, and as stated, it is 18 1/4 inches. And thats right on the money. I would suggest at least 18 1/2 inches or you may have trouble getting enough clearance.

I just screwed it down with some 3/16"x3/4" long wood screws. I am fixing to build me a slide-out for the other side to access everything in the back of the basement easier. Something like this:

That's a good idea. I wish that drain pipe wasn't right in the middle of it.

I finally got all my stuff together to do this. Forgive me for being paranoid but is there anything under that floor that I'm going to hit with a screw?

Thats why I used 3/4" long screws. I am not for sure but I would bet that the plywood is 3/4".

I not so sure that it is. Easy way to find out, pull a floor vent.
