Honestly I like your ideal but I don't think you want that tire back that far. Just my opinion tho.

Yeah I know what your saying. I like the looks of it there and how it kinda boxes the cargo in but it does wobble/bounce with me pushing on it.
I will try welding a gusset in the back of the angle and see if it stiffens it up. If not it's gonna go under the camper (towards the front) or in the front under the bed.

Years ago, I bought my ex a new rack. But her rack wasn't nearly as useful as yours...LOL

Someone has to say it; please keep an eye on your frame and sidewalls.
Might be a good idea to take it for a spin loaded up with the DW driving and you following in a car to see how much frame flex you experience.

Remember; no shocks on the camper. There will be a lot of up and down movement in any case so make sure to tarp the entire load and tie it off good or some of your stuff may get left on the highway.

Monitor every month (initially a season or 2), just behind the rear axle attachment points and at your bolt holes for frame cracks; then semi-annually thereafter.

The increased flexing of the frame due to the increased length will shorten frame life; how much is anyone's guess. The point of maximum stress is right aft of the rear axle.

Additionally, wall flex as a result of frame flex can cause cracks at wall openings. Any sign of cracks in penetration corners (slide openings, doors, hatches, and windows) is cause for concern.

Look out for signs like this.

Be sure and report the added length to the tax assessor so he can charge you more for your tag!

Got back last night, all is well so far.
Worked great hauling and was handy to keep stuff up off the ground at the site. Probably have some in-camp pictures, I'll check and upload them if I do.

Make sure you don't block your tail and brake lights. Looks like a strong mod.

Yes I was stating what is on my TT sticker, 7,815 pounds GVWR. But the TT is not considered an ultra-lite as I stated. With propane (two 30 pounders) and 1 battery I am at 6,213 without any other supplies loaded so the 5,790 is pretty close. Enjoy
