We keep our main door shut. Our TH is too high to risk our son from falling out. He's 15 months... Definitely not old enough for reasoning.

My son took the fateful tumble. We got lucky and other than scaring the carp out of all of us, he didn't get hurt. But, I have heard of other kids who have.

Without a flip-over handle, I might consider installing one. They're super convenient and helpful getting in and out.

Otherwise, I think a hook and loop is about all that you can do.

Yeah. I need to go out and take a closer look. We have an adjustable baby gate that folds up pretty quickly that we may try out. If not, we may try to do the hook/loop
