Converting TT Marker Lights to Turn Signal?

I know makers lights can easily be rewired to be turn signals, but has anyone done this? My 35' TT has a yellow marker light in the lower center of each side. I think it would be great if these were turn signals. Thoughts?

not hard to remove that one from the parking light circuit, but you would need to run a wire either from the rear light up to that light or be able to locate the signal circuit along the frame somewhere to tap into it

You can use a two filament bulb type setup so you can have marker and turn signals both in the same fixture. Many types available out there mainly in the heavy duty trailer lighting products.

this is probably the much better option. Disabling the side marker would not only be a bad idea, would also be illegal.

That would be perfect. I will have to look for one that is a close replacement for the current marker.

I thought of the legal issue. I wonder if center markers are required for a trailer over a certain length, or if FR just put them there out of goodwill. EDIT: NHTSA regs require a center marker light/reflector for trailers over 30' in length.

you are going to need a converter to keep them from coming on with the brakes

you are right, since trailers don't have independent brake and turn signal circuits

That all depends on WHICH trailer(s) your referring to , because YES , some DO have seperate wiring connections for brake and turn signal as do certain cars and P/U's

I've not ever seen a camper with separate stop and turn.

That's normally not a cost that a trailer manufacturer wants to add.

Besides if your tv doesn't have separate stop and turn they wouldn't work anyway without installing a converter.

EVERy vehicle has seperate STOP and TURN ... and then they are commonly joined at the signal stat - aka directional signal/hazard flasher control .
