Covering a screen door
I ordered a Tracer 3200 BHT and would like to cover the screen door so we can keep the outside door open but have heat and A/C... any ideas? help please...

Plexiglass and Velcro strips.
Measure the screen area, go to Lowes or Home Depot and have them cut to size the Plex you need.
Place the self adhesive Velcro in each corner of the plex, remove the backing of the Velcro and stick it to the door.

There are several posts here where Plexiglas is cut and fitted in the rig in the screen door. I assume cutting needs to be a little more precise. I am considering doing that. Good Luck!

There are many different things you can do, just depends on type of door you have. Mine had channels in it so I was able to get tinted plexi at Home Depot and cut it to fit. You can use a table saw to cut the straight lines, if you have radius edge on top you will need a bench sander to make the round edges. The gaskets that hold in the screen can be used to now hold in the plexi. I have some pics posted on here somewhere. Be careful with the plexi don't try to cut with jig saw or anything else might crack it.

We went to Lowes and had Lexan cut to fit. We had to round the top two edges ourselves using a utility knife. We attached the Lexan by using small sheet metal screws. Worked out perfect.

Actually pulled the screen completely out of our door on our last 3 RVs and screwed plexiglass to the frame with smallest/shortest stainless self tapping screws I could get at West Marine. With the awning extended and the slide next to the door out, you can't get much breeze through the screen door anyway. But, I also like the idea of leaving the screen in and attaching the plexi with velcro.

I just removed my screen door so i can do this mod sometime over winter. I think i am going to cut some plexiglass/lexan to fit in the opening against the screen and use some clips to hold the plastic against the screening. Others have said this worked out great with no issues with the screen. On nice days with no A/C or heat would like to be able to have the door open with the screen in place!

My door had a groove on either side and a "ledge" on the top and bottom. I only put in a bottom rectangle for the bottom to keep junior from pushing thru with his gigantic head.

Take a look here. As everyone has said, this mod has been done many times in a variety of ways. One thing for sure, it will certainly allow you to run heat/air with the main door left open, we do it all the time in humid Louisiana, good luck

covering door
get a patio door 3m kit, two sided tape, cut to size, then hit it with a blow dryer, have one on my 5er around my doggy door in Wisconsin really makes a difference, lasted all season and no trouble with pinching from extra thickness
