Cupboard Trim Bonking My Head
In our Cherokee 274DBH, by the door, the cupboards have a trim on the bottom that sticks out (see photo). My son bonked his head so hard it nearly brought tears, and then I did it myself the other day and it did bring tears. We’ve considered several options: removing the trim (but we don’t know what’s underneath and we might ruin it); some kind of ‘bumper pad’ on the corner which would probably look ugly has heck; rounding the sharp edge down or just cutting it off on the corner, and trying to match the stain. Anybody else have a suggestion?

Just remove it and stain the edge, it can't be seen anyway.

Lay out a even radius and cut with a coping saw. Neatly sand smooth. Take cutoff piece and match stain at a paint store. It will still hurt to bump it without a laceration.

I know it may look gawdy, but you're not hosting gala events in the trailer...you might could just cut a piece of foam pipe insulation and place it along the whole trim edge that sticks out. Probably the size for 1/2 inch pipe would do. Just take the precut slit and open it enough to slide over the trim edge. It would take the sting out if you bumped into it, as well as maybe draw your attention to it where you don't accidentally bump into it.
Just a suggestion, feel free to hate it.

It's molding purely for aesthetics, and pretty easy to pop off. What you should find is that the finish on the face frame of the cabinet is OK color-wise, but the molding application may have left behind some scarring. Below the cabinet, and why they have been installing the molding, is that the bottom panel they put on the cabinet to "close" it after it's screwed to the wall isn't cut for a great fit. You could replace that molding with a traditional corner molding stained to match, and you can get matching pre-finished battens from FR and make a corner if the gap on the underside and scarring on the face frame are more than you like.

Another suggestion, take the trim off, re-cut it and set it flush with the outside edge of the cabinet face. No need to stain or anything.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I have a feeling a quick fix will be the pipe insulation type of thing (at least for short term), eventually taking the trim and recutting it. Hubby will be the determining factor here as he's my main handyman.

The pipe foam works well. I attached mine with short 3/4" broad head screws. The screws don't show and it has saved my head a number of times.

Save the molding. Wear helmet and shoulder pads.

Install a set of curb feelers on the bill of your hat.
They may help boost your WIFI connection as well.
