Custom Bumper BBQ Mount

I built a stowable BBQ mount, which I'm pretty proud of. I know people don't like mounting anything to the bumper, and it voids the warranty. But this is perfect for me. It's out when I'm using it, then secured to the camper when towing. It's has a threaded rod foot that is used for keeping it level. I'm not a professional welder, but I do like to tinker with things. I have to either raise the tail light, or remove to the BBQ before I travel. The stand itself is below the light. So what do you think?

Yeah, I would like to see it. I have to add some hooks for BBQ utensils.

Here are the pics of my bumper mount. Note that I have a mounting bar on both sides so I can flip bbq to other side if wind keeps putting out the flame.

I just bought a Versa 75 Jackson grill, replacing the grill that came with my Sandpiper. Goingto mount it on the factory rack so I can keep it attached while I travel.

Want/need to mount it on the factory rack and would like suggestions on how to do it.

I'm not sure, not familiar with that setup. On mine I welded bolts on the bottom support and drilled holes in the bbq legs. I then use wing nuts and lock washers to secure it.

IT VOIDS THE WARRANTY??? Oh sometimes I wish we bought an old RV!!! Everything voids the warranty and my husband bought an extended warranty too. He wants to mount a fence post on the bumper to store the sewer hose. I wonder if that voids it?
He wants to mount a grill holder also.................

Nancy- can't his sewer hose fit INSIDE the bumper? Many do.

As for adding a mount, mine is a bolt on that doesn't void anything! Time to get creative. Besides, if they really wanted to deny any kind of claim- they will!

My RV came factory with the BBQ rack That folds out on the back bumper. The BBQ was also attached to the rack with bolts and stayed on while we travel. Also my warranty is up.

No, the bumper is closed on both ends. He says he's going to use plumber's tape to hold the fence post on and that will not affect the warranty. Our RV came with a "free" grill and a nice little table to put it on but the table takes up a lot of room. So he's interested in the grill holder that bolts to the bumper. He actually wanted an outdoor kitchen but we ended up, for many reasons, buying ours, a shorter class c.

Just a thought but if you are good at internet searching, you might be able to find a bumper mount of the flat table design at a Rv salvage yard.

I don't know why a bumper grill mount would void the warranty. Our trailer came factory equipped with one.

I'm sure your husband is aware of this, but plumbers tape is Teflon tape. It's is used for sealing pipe threads from leaking. It has no other use. If you ever saw it you would know why.

In some parts of the country the perforated metal plumbers strapping is called plumbers tape. Not to be confused with Teflon tape used to seal pipe threads.

Never heard that before, they always refer to it as pipe strap around here.

Quick shot of the BBQ all setup at camp. It is a great addition to the outside kitchen. Worked well.

Been a plumber in the Seattle area for over 30 years now and have always referred to the metal tape as plumbers tape. We call Teflon tape Teflon tape, not plumbers tape, never heard of Teflon tape referred to as plumber tape.

Ha, I am from Louisiana and I thought plumber's tape was white Teflon tape. Only, we called it Teflon tape and it replaced joint compound.

I was VERY confused when he said he was going to use plumber's tape. But he described what I called a pipe clamp for plumbing, instead of pipe clamp for cars. Galvanized strips of metal with holes in it.

He is from Boise and has been in Seattle over 30 years. I thought I would sound intelligent if I threw that out about plumbing tape.

When I first moved to Seattle, I kept asking for my sandwich to be "dressed" and nobody knew what I was talking about.

The BBQ holder is great attached to the bumper and I really want one.
