Did I install my MaxAir wrong?
So, I've finally gotten around to doing some mods/updates on the TT yesterday (Separate thread coming soon on that topic once they're all finished.)
One of the first mods I did was install some MaxAir covers over my vents. I'm concerned that I may have left too much of a gap in the covers. I know it says some gap is normal, but since I installed the brackets over the existing caulking the gap is fairly significant.
I'm worried that with this large a gap, highway speeds might try to rip them off.

Mine have a small "tilt" towards the front... No worries.. drive on and don't look back!

What you will find is that the gap allows tree leaves to get under and into the vent area. They can be a PITA. I would add some foam weather stripping around the edge to seal it from this type of debris.

What he said-- get you some extra thick foam weather strip and put the
sticky side towards the MaxxAir cover. Re-install.
Forget about it for a couple years.
I just removed mine and cleaned the vent covers inside.
GRUNGY! But that's 1000s of miles and 4 years sitting in an open shed.
Not too bad and the clean up only took about a half hour each.

One of my MaxAirs blew off in a high wind. I guess after a few years the plastic gets brittle and weak around the bolt holes. When I replaced it I drilled and placed a 1 inch wide aluminum strip between the bolts to provide a more secure mount.

I would have suggested getting the camco vent cover. This one allows the vent cover to be removed and cleaned. As well as removing debris that get between the vent. I got mine on amazon for $20

I have the same covers and I noticed that the previous owners bent the brackets down some to lower the cover.

You can buy (Hinge Kits) from MaxAir that allow instant open to clean. They fit the standard & MaxAirII covers.  Youroo!!

I would be careful with the foam strips. you do not want to trap moisture under there.

How could you trap moisture under the vent? It is a vent, entire purpose is to "vent" air. It is open in the back.

I only put the strip on the leading edge, just to block highway winds. The sides and back are still open.
