Dinette Bike Modification
We just got a 2014 233s this summer and have loved using it with the family.
I have read many threads on not mounting anything to the rear bumper, so I know that was not a viable solution for transporting my bikes. Secondly, I did not want to purchase a $500 roof rack for my car, so I used one of the many ideas from the forum.
Basically, I removed all of the cushions from the dinette, and purchase 4 Delta Bike Hitch Lockable Fork Mounts Delta Bike Hitch Lockable Fork Mount in Tree Fort Bikes Truck Bed Racks (cat268)
My first idea was to just use the current boards in the dinette and mount them to the wood. I found after mounting the first one, that the wood was too thin and it needed to be thicker to keep the bike stable. So, I replaced the wood in the dinette with 1/2" birch plywood, cut to size. This proved to be much more stable.
Basically alternated, placing one bike in, mounting the fork mount with 1/4" X 1" bolts and went onto the next. I was able to get 4 mounts installed, and when I flip the wood over the mounts nicely disappear into the storage area and the dinette cushions can be put back on for dinner.
Cost:
Wood $30
Bike Fork Mounts: $76
Total: $106
Issues:
None Really, just make sure you measure and place the mounts where seat support cross bars do not interfere when you flip them over.

That first picture had me going for a second, why are you hanging the bikes from the ceiling.

Same here! Took me a moment.
This is likely my most favorite setup for transporting bikes.

Looks good. This is the second time that I've seen a mod like this.
My only comment is you might want to throw a blanket between the tires and table top- just to give it a tiny bit of extra protection.

Very nice. Do you have any trouble getting the bikes in and out of the trailer?
I did the the same thing with 2x6 for transporting bikes in the bed of my truck.

Put some rollers under the rear wheels and you have trainers for poor weather days.

I did something very similar, but a bit different. My wife doesn't ride a bike and our fifth wheel has a table instead of a dinette so I mounted the bike behind the kitchen island. When the slides come in from both sides, it is a perfect place for the bike.

Thanks, I was thinking of using either card board or a rug that we use on the floor of the camper. The table can always be wiped off to disinfect.

Not yet, I was thinking of maybe adding some "O" hooks and using some budgie cords to keep the rear wheels from skipping around.

If you got a rack on the bumper use it.

Are the seat bottom secured to anything when the bike are mounted? Would a big bump bounce the plywood out of position and allow the bikes to start dancing around?

The original poster said he had read many threads about not mounting anything to the back bumper, which was why I asked.
I am assuming ours is factory installed and we bought it new and it already came with.
