Do you use your card from your home receiver?

I found this: "Brand new dish 500 in original box with used rca DRD222RD receiver with remote"

Dr-G: If you are referring to Dish, I opted to get an additional box directly from Dish. They charge me $7.00 per month for the additional box. When not on the road, the "extra" box is used in my son's bedroom.

We have 6 receivers in our house, but only one of them would work in our GTown because it was a stand alone dvr, the rest ran off the Genie system and were dedicated to the main box. I ordered a standard receiver from DirecTv (since our in-motion antenna is not HD) which is the only one that has the coax output. Was able to put the receiver in the overhead cabinet and run a coax out to the air/cable/sat switch so all tvs would receive sat signal. Then the problem of the D12 (SD receiver model) is IR only, so the cabinet door would have to be open and in sight of the remote. Ordered a Next Gen remote extender, which replaces a battery in the remote and turns it into an RF remote (which it already is, but no add on receiver to mate to it) and then a small base unit in cabinet with receiver to transmit the IR to it. Problem solved, I hope. Would have been nice if the SD receiver was RF capable though. The satellite antenna does track well when moving though.

Is there an add'l monthly charge?

Thanks!

It came with a card that I was already activated for my account. I think it was $45 for the receiver and like $6 a month. They also required a 2 yr contract, but since I had just got all new equipment in the house the month before, it was no big deal. I'm not sure if it extended the full contract or if it was just on that receiver.

That's what I was thinking, but wasn't positive. If anyone calls DirecTv, have them transfer you to the RV/boat division, they are much more helpful and understand what it is that you want to do (and they are easier to understand! )

I believe any DirecTv dish will work, but you'll only get SD content.
