Dome light glare shield?

Hey Y'all,

Okay we have a 2010 Graywolf 19RR.
There are several really awesome dome type lights...
They are WONDERFUL and give off so much light...REALLY DO love them.

My dilemma is the dome light over the sink and the one over the couch.

When they are on at night... they are toooo good!
The one over the sink is the worst!
Blinding while washing the dishes.

Short of hanging a dish towel from the upper cabinet door...
does anyone have any ideas how or what I could use as a glare shield
(attached to the flat front edge) and how to attach it?

I have thought long and hard on this one and haven't come up anything really suitable.
Thought about using two sided Velcro tape to attach it... but attach what?

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?

I would suggest replacing the existing fixture with a thin tube fluorescent.
Places like Camping World have may to choose from. Two screws and a few wire connections are all it would take.

You should get a much cooler and softer light.

Thanks for your comments....

Yes...changing the light fixture IS one option.
However I really DO love the great light they give off.

I really do want the option of whether I have lots of light or just a little.

Sadly...I am NOT a big fan of ANY florescent lights.

Find out what bulb you have in the fixtures, and see if you can find a lesser wattage.

Or, try some LEDs in the fixtures.....I bought some that were much dimmer than my OEM bulbs.

Here's a "free" idea, but, if you don't like the results, it will cost $ to undo it!

You could take some fine (1200 Grit) sandpaper to the inside of the lenses. That should greatly reduce & diffuse the light. If you don't sand the "focal point" in the center of the lenses, they should still shine down on your sink and couch just fine.

I have no idea what your fixture looks like but how about blacking out the side with electrical tape to see if it works. If it blocks the light, remove the tape and paint the inside of the lens where needed. Just a thought.

Same issue. Interestingly - the bulbs in our 2012 19rr ceiling fixtures are the same (don't laugh) as the back up lights in my F-250.
(See what messin around after a couple of beers get ya)
Sylvania makes em so I would imagine they are available in a lesser wattage.
We went to Target and bought (for $8.95) a floor lamp and put it over by the couch. No more GLARING bulbs in back. Much softer light and it travels on the bed tween a couple of towels.
