Dometic T-stat replacement??

I have a dometic T-stat in our camper, like this one only ours doesn't have the "heat strip" option on it.

I would like to replace it with a T-stat that will display the current inside temp all the time. I had an extra house T-stat sitting around but after doing some reading I found that will not work with this system.

Any input to a T-stat that will display the current inside temp at all times and work with the dometic 3 wire setup?

I don't know of a compatible unit to replace that particular T-Stat. It's a bummer too, because we're stuck with either buying replacement units from the mfg. or changing out the t-stat and the control box, which also requires pulling new t-stat wire.

It would be nice if someone had a digital plug in replacement for those units.

An easier solution is to just get a small battery powered thermometer and some 3M command strips and stick it right next to the thermostat.

Here's one from Home Depot. Would probably fit nicely on a small command hook.

I just bought one from the Home Disaster and did it that way. Much cheaper.

Thanks for the input! What actually brought on the idea of replacing the thermostat was this past week while on a trip to Mt. Rushmore our A/C started to shut down on us on our last day and I have no idea why. Here is the story on that A/C shutting off Since I am not sure where the issue is, if it is the thermostat or the A/C unit itself, and I had been wanting to be able to have the inside temp I figured why not just install a new thermostat that will display the temp and also get rid of a possibly problematic thermostat all in one shot.

If anyone has any input on my A/C problem, please feel free to let me know!
