Drawer question...

In our new Rockwood Ultra Lite 2703WS there is a bank of drawers on the end of the peninsula. The top one however, is not a drawer but a fold out with a sponge holder.

Under the fridge is a drawer the same size as the drawers in the drawer bank.

I am thinking of removing the drawer that is under the fridge and putting it in the spot where the fold out is now. I can get good access from the cupboard right beside and think putting in support will be pretty easy. The put the fold out door down below the fridge. I can put the sponge holder on the inside of the door under the sink.

No idea why there is not a drawer in this space now. There is nothing there to impede a drawer.

Has anyone tried this? Problems, thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks!

When our 320 BHDS was delivered, the top drawer next to the stove was cut-out like an undersink drawer. The drawers were the same as modesl that had the sink in that location, but our sink is in the island.

We worked with the dealer to simply have a new drawer made that is a full drawer and sits in that place. They contact FR who put them in contact with the cabinet maker. in a couple weeks we had an exact match full size drawer on our porch, slides installed. Just swapped it out.

Never looked at the upper fold down drawer in a 2703. My 29RLSS has kitchen sink drain pipes to rear of fold down drawer. Impossible to insert a drawer. Take a look inside the area to rear of your fold down drawer for obstacles.

Here is the floorplan of the 2703WS

The drawers are in the peninsula under the "OH LIGHT". There are doors on both sides so easy to get in there. There is no plumbing, no electrical or anything else where the top drawer would go.

I like the idea of getting an additional drawer through the dealer and will check into that for sure!

We just received our 2703WS two days ago and I too wondered why they put a fold out with a sponge holder in that spot. Please post how you make out with your dealer. I'm going to check into getting an additional drawer through the dealer too.

On another note, has anyone had any trouble with their antenna? Ours goes up but does not rotate. Of course, we'll have to return to the dealers to have this checked out.

Did you pull down on the rotating turn thingy to turn the antenna?

Yes, we did. It doesn't move. It's been raining for days but as soon as it clears up, we can go up and check it out.

Did you purchase the optional countertop extension? If you had, it would fasten onto two brackets screwed to the front of that "pull down" drawer front. When it is in place, that top drawer / drawer front would be useless. We had the countertop extension on our last Rockwood tt. That is why that is not a real "drawer".

Actually in this unit the brackets for the counter top extension are installed on the end of the counter not on the area where the fold down was. There was absolutely nothing inside to impede the installation of the drawer.

We ordered the drawer from FR. It is installed and operates perfectly. You wouldn't know it wasn't there from the factory install.

Would love to know who you talked to at FR. I have the same unit (the Flagstaff 8526RLWS) and other than our wine opening tool and a few pencils, it is pretty useless. I did not know there was a drawer available for there.

Part number and phone number please...
