EMS-50WC Install Flush Mount Remote Display

So I just finished installing a EMS-50WC into my 2018 XLR Nitro 35VL5. I'm not going to bore you with images of the install itself, there is plenty of information available on that, besides I was sweating something awful and didn't want to mess with my phone. I did do something different that you may be interested in that did not come included with the kit.

I found a YouTuber, RVProject, that used Frontpanelexpress.com to create an adapter plate to flush mount the remote display. He has downloadable panel templates on his site for no charge. This worked perfect for me since surface mounting the remote display next to my control panel would protrude too far and interfere with closing my cabinet door. To hide the stainless screws I added black plastic covers, not sure I like them yet.

Lots of great ideas on his website and YouTube channel.

Thanks, I think I will. Need to get some cardboard and some black paint! I'll use the cardboard to stick the screws through and protect the threads. I think the black plastic caps are too big for a small panel.

I lost 5 lbs in sweat equity doing this one. The hardest part, other than learning to be a contortionist in the basement, was running the remote display control cable. I wrongly assumed that the compartment was hollow from the control panel to the basement, it was not. I used a flexible fiberglass rod, taping the remote display wire to it, and followed an existing wire bundle up through the holes. A test of my patience for sure
