The cargo rack came on our TT from the factory and has a sticker stating its rated for 250lbs. Right now with the space tire the rack is probably about 100lbs, so I have roughly 150lbs to work with if I go this route.

But if I go with the fork mount route I would just have to figure out a way to mount the front tires on the rack, since I don't want to put them in the back of the truck.

This weekend we are going camping with friends, one of them is a welder by trade and my cousin is a CNC machinist, so I will get their opinions on this also since both of them know metal alot better than I do. Plus they might be able to give me some different ideas.

NOLA, what do you do with the tires when you have the bikes on the rack? I would just have to figure out a way to mount the tires on the rack also. Going with the fork mounts is a much simpler route

I'm stowing my front wheels in my rear cargo bay, but it's a tight squeeze if I don't deflate the tires. I'm thinking of going this route: http://www.wheel-riders.com/?page_id=20

I have this option as well but doesn't it make the spare tire hang really low? We have a 29bh and I have had a dragging issue before actually bent the drag bars. With the grate down worried about the spare tire.

I pulled with the spare the first time, but noticed I lost a bumper end cap. Figure it was flexing and vibrated it loose. Decided to take the spare off and haul in the TV. 250 lbs max back on the rack (including spare) and the position of the spare on the rack seems like a bad spot.

This was my first indication I was ruining my bumper with my "Around the Tire" bike rack. I could not keep the bumper caps in and eventually lost them by the time we got back from Florida.

Camping World Bike Rack

Camping World has a nice unit for 99 bucks that can carry two bikes..it looks fairly light weight and mounts around the spare tire carrier on the rear bumper..with bikes, would not weigh over say fifty pounds, we have two lightweight bikes that are hybrids...one 26" and 31"...
