All you need is an automotive 12 volt test light to see what is hot. On one install the vent opening was right next to a ceiling light which of course is always hot, it was real easy to tap off it and run a new wire through the solid foam insulation of the ceiling. Good luck.
Not necessarily. From what I've been reading on the forum, some newer models are coming with a light switch near the door that turns all the lights on/off. If you've got one of those, you'll either have to leave the on/off switch on all the time (won't work if no switches on each individual light) or run another wire.
