Fantastic Fan Install

Hello all,

Just got a quote from my dealer to purchase and install a fantastic fan in my new FR3.

Dealer told me that there was no pre wiring by the vent and it would cost approx 700 for the unit and labor.

Any input and no I don't have the ability to do it myself.

$700?? Wow.

I installed my own, and there was no pre-wiring in RV. I tapped into the TV signal booster about 4 or so feet away and it took me less than 10 minutes to get wires to the fan location.

I'd see what the dealer would charge for the vent + installation if it was pre-wired, and then see what a local car stereo shop would charge to run some wire from a suitable location in the ceiling to the vent opening...

The top of the line Fantastic Fan was less than 250 bucks if I recall, so $450 for labor seems crazy.

Good luck!

Fantastic Vent

I saw your post from February on the install of a Fantastic Vent. I've done two of these now on our 28RKS. Neither were "pre-wired". The thing is that the manufacturer runs multiple wires through these vent openings and its real easy to tap into a hot 12 volt and a neutral. All you need is an automotive 12 volt test light to see what is hot. On one install the vent opening was right next to a ceiling light which of course is always hot, it was real easy to tap off it and run a new wire through the solid foam insulation of the ceiling. Good luck.

Not necessarily. From what I've been reading on the forum, some newer models are coming with a light switch near the door that turns all the lights on/off. If you've got one of those, you'll either have to leave the on/off switch on all the time (won't work if no switches on each individual light) or run another wire.
