Filling fresh water tank

When camping at an electric only site site how do you fill your fresh water tanks? I have some 5gal water jugs but I am looking for a better way to fill the tanks than with a funnel.

Anyone have a pump setup either electric or hand?

Thanks
Chuck

Is this after you are all set up and you run the tanks dry? If so I try to find a nearby hose outlet and then ask around to borrow enough water line if I don't have enough. Rarely happens but it does happen. Other option is to haul the camper to the water, big pain at times though. If I get an electric site only I fill before I park it. I rarely haul water with me there has always been a place close by to fill my tanks.

We had to use jugs once and thankfully I had kids with me so they got to haul the buckets and whatever else I could find.

Top your tank off at the spigot near the park entrance before you set up. Most all have spigots near the gate hosts. Some buy a 12 vdc pump and fill from a bladder or bucket. Some rvers with the convenience centers on their rigs can hook the outside shower hose to the fresh water inlet, set their valves to winterize, and draw water from bladders or bucket that way.

We camp without any hookups most of the time.
Since we're former popup owners, we've learned to economize our water usage.
So I'm used to shuttling the water with my 6 gallon jug.

Some use a large water bladder and 12v pump.

If you have a short piece of hose, you can pump it out of your jugs using your antifreeze (winterization) connection, your water pump, and your outside shower (if your shower will reach to your FW tank fill.) See attached.

X2. Being an ex-popup camper myself, and with the simplistic ways of most "older" popup campers, you learn how to be resourceful and creative with your problem solving. We still tote our 6 gallon jug. Some habits are hard to break.

Now we just fill our FW tank before we go, OR, tote that 6 gallon jug to and fro from the CG Spigot. Makes for a good "workout", UGH! Being resourceful is good in times like those.

If you have an outside antifreeze connection just put the hose from there right into your jug. It will draw water directly from the jug. This is what I do, no lifting involved.

I have a 3/4" hose connection for my fresh water fill. So I use a 45gallon bag tank on the back of my truck with a 12 volt pump. Works great !

We frequently camp at electric only sites. We will stop and fill the tank at the closest water spigot to our site. After that I have a 6 gallon jug with a fairly long fill spout that we use to keep it topped off. If we can't use the hose for some reason I will fill the water jug twice which gives us more than enough water till I put in another jug full the next day.

You need one of these to hook to your hose to fill the fresh water tank. From Amazon.

Portable Water

We do not camp at full hook-up sites, electric only. We fill at the station upon arrival. As we camp I have 4 water jugs. I did lift and fill for years and now I place the water jug on my back bumper and fill with this portable water pump. I did have to make an extension clear water tube to reach (about 2 feet) from the pump to the fill on the RV. The pump takes 2 AA batteries and I use rechargeable batteries. I walk to a water spigot and fill the jugs and use the cart to walk back or drive and fill in my truck, but I have time and I enjoy the walk.

I just bought a new Shurflo 12V pump to replace the older model in my TT. I'll rig up the old one with alligator clips to connect to the TT's battery so I can pump from the 6 gal. water container on the ground or my tailgate. I have the same dolly as sonic2. With a bad back I need to get inventive because holding that jug up to drain it into the water fill is not happening anymore!

Edit: If you are buying a water pump, make sure it's rated for potable water if the water is going anywhere near your mouth.

https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1Q...xoi0dUjfqUJRMc I use a 2 wheel dolly to transport the water from the source to my trailer. Then I use gravity to transfer the water to my trailer.

I saw a guy that had a large water bladder on top of his suv. He filled the bladder then let gravity fill his camper. Seemed like it worked well if you had a roof rack on your vehicle.
