Finally found a digital thermostat I liked
After looking for a few years for a black digital thermostat for the house, yesterday at Walmat while looking for a block heater cord. I ran across this Honeywell unit that comes with 3 face plates, Black, Titanium and off white. So 2 followed me home as I wanted to do the upgrade to the trailer as well and refused to do it until I found a black thermostat to match the interior. Although we are now thinking the titanium face plate will look pretty sweet as well. It also has enough room inside to put a micro switch for the fan highspeed.

Does both, out of the box they are in F. even though the sticky over the display shows C.

Stupid question.......
Is a household thermostat like what you bought work for the electrical sytem in a travel trailer. I guess so if you did it but it would help knowing. My on board thermostat lacks the sensitive fluctions I would want.

Not "stupid" at all! This is not as simple as it would sound.
Thermostats are "relay closing systems" that route "provided power" to the controlled appliance based on observed temperature and the setting.
Simple ones use a mercury switch on a thermal spring to teeter to close the circuit; routing power to the appliance. Adjusting the slider alters the spring tension and thus the teeter point.
Electrical thermostats can use the 24 volt AC or 12 volt DC control power from the appliance to run the electrical control. This type can be problematic if it needs 24 VAC and your unit is DC controlled.
Computer controlled thermostats usually use "on board" battery power and just switch the incoming control power (whatever it is) back to the appliance via a relay.
So the answer to your question has more to do with matching the thermostat with what your appliance needs. Color codes may also vary and finding the right wires to hook up can be problematic.

Didgital thermostat replacement was the second mod I did after spending several very cold nights in the camper. The mercury one failed to switch the heater on because it got stuck on the off mode. The digital keeps the temp +-2 degrees F. Love it.

I agree with Herk, Most stats are 24 volt for you home, the Stat used in an RV is 12volt DC not 24 volt AC

You negelected the part where he stated most computer controlled ones use battery power and can be used in the house or RV. The ones I bought do just that as they are powered by 2 AA batteries and work very well so far controlling my electric forced air furnace in the house. Also of note the pin identification in the t-sat is the same as the common honeywell upgrade that is so easily found via Google so the upgrade will be a snap.
