? for those who added awning lights

I bought a set of Superlite LED lights with the 44 button remote. My question is for those of you that have installed them (or any aftermarket lights) to the side of the camper under the awning. Where did you wire them into or do you just plug in and unplug every time you set up? Im wanting to hard wire into the camper so I don't have to climb up every time and plug in the wire to get power.

I have seen posts where people have wired into the scare light or amber light but they both are too far away from where the end would be and I don't want a wire just hanging around. Any help is greatly appreciated, pics would be awesome as well! Thanks!

Hi,
We have a huge thread here from 2013 when the LED's first came out. Every possible installtion was used.
If you have a power awning, that install turns out the cleanest.

I did not have a pic of 12V power in the album. I just ran new wires from the 12V side of the panel with a new fuse to the switches for steps and awning.
Once you decide to do the install, we'll walk you through it.

I attached them (with new 3M stickey stuff) to the side of the rv just below the awning. Then I wired them into the porch light. I can turn them on/off from inside.

The hot set-up is to use a rf controller instead of the if.....can do it all from inside or out, never leav'n your chair!.....Power awning? run the wire down the upright that the awning motor uses and draw power from any 12 volt light....they make an extension 4 wire cord and there's quite a bit of accessories available.......I used alum track to mount mine and don't have to deal with any tape ....

Our 5er came with LED strip lights across the underside of the awning base. Seemed like a great idea, until we used them in the summer. They are white and draw bugs. Are colors less prone to draw bugs?

Dahagen - what was the 3m sticky stuff.. I am looking to do the same and don't want them falling off while going down highway and byways.

You can also use moulding tape found at auto parts stores....the negitive of using tape is when the light string burns out and you want'a replace it.....cleaning the old stuff off is a real pia..

Thank you all for the replies! Yes I do have the power awning and aluminum sides. I plan on doing this soon and will take and post as many pics as I can. Thanks again!

Scotch bright pad and alcohol to get it to stick. Our power awning has a plastic cover to cover the wiring. Pulled the cover ran the wiring down and drilled through to the front storage area and taped into the light power.

If you'd followed the wiring a little further, the wiring runs thru a hole already there....
