FR3 Grill screen

Hi folks. I recently saw a 2016 and it had a screen comprised of I'll guess 3/8" metal honeycomb. I found a company online that makes the material, so once I measure it out I'm going to give it a go on my 2015 30DS. Looks to be perfect size to prevent big rocks, bugs from entering while driving while not restricting airflow. I attached the pic I took. Happy and safe travels.Click image for larger version

That's a good idea. You can find stainless steel screen type material in various opening sizes on race car supply sites.
Can't remember where I ordered from for a sports car I have. I'm liking that honeycomb!

Picked up a roll of vinyl coated hardware cloth that worked pretty well.

Antone, what was the site where you found the material?

FR3 Grill screen

Hi,
The site is Customcargrills.com. I've not tried it yet, still looking at other materials. I do like that they sell one that says 77% flow though. Eric got me a little paranoid about that.
Thanks,

Antone

Thanks, my dealer discouraged the option too due to restricting air flow. But I only have 1500 miles and already the radiator is dinged up, I assume from stones.

I've done what most did with their pre-2016 FR3 and thats just to buy a roll of the galvanized mesh from Lowes or HD and zip tie it in place. Works pretty well. Just becareful cutting it to size since you might cut yourself on the sharp edges. No issues with air flow so far, and I think its a CYA on the part of FR to recommend it not to be done. Just do it before too many rocks/bugs bends the radiator fins.

Thanks Kansas, I think I will look into that or the plastic screen that was also mentioned. So you used zip ties?

Buckeye, I have 3k on mine and it has a lot of impact marks on the radiator. It was not engineered well, that's for sure. Kansas, thanks. That is the route I am looking to go now as well.
