Coming from China so it'll take some time to get here.
I ordered 4. They look good and are cheap enough. I know when my buddy sees them he'll want them too so I'll be ready for another install.

Dang, 40 minutes pass and I got a message they have been shipped. Might get them sooner than expected.

I use a cheaper thermometer from WM.....cost about 2 bucks and hangs off a rack. If I was to check the freezer....I just put inside there for about an hour. Been working 10 years that way.

We got a similar message from a different item. 3 weeks later it arrived. I know I'm getting spoilt with the fast shipping here in the US.

eBay lists an AcuRite 986 for $38 and a 986A2 for $30. The illustrations look the same. I can't find a 986A2 on Acurite's web site. Does anyone know the difference between them?

The "A2" is a revision number. The units are functionally the same, just some improvement made.

If you hope to monitor in your TV while in tow, I will caution you that the range is limited as the design is really to have the receiver close by. In our prior camper, the distance from the fridge to the coupler was 17' and we towed with a 2004 Yukon 2500 XL. With that setup, I had to put the receiver on the rear window with a suction cup to have reliable communication as the signal wouldn't reach the dash. That didn't bother us at all because it's the alarms that we listened for. Our new camper's floorplan moves the fridge much more forward - the distance from coupler to fridge is only 10' - and I get communication at the dash without issue.
