Furnace conversion to Natural Gas
Has anyone converted their furnace to natural gas when boondocking for years? With my trailer and winter and small propane bottles and high propane prices (nearly $4 a gallon) I want to get onto natrual gas for atleast the furnace.
I believe it is a suburban furnace. It does say on the owners manual that it is for RV or Mobile home applications. just wonder if it was natural gas convertible...

There would need to be a change of the regulator and gas valve orifice, if they make such a kit. Propane pressure is set at 11 inches water column while natural gas is set at 3 inches water column. Big difference!

Best to ask manufacturer. Sure it could be done. Huge savings if possible.

I just did a Google search "convert from propane to natural gas" and many entries popped. I looked at a few and decided there are too many good ones for me to post the links. One said you can get an easy-to-use kit at any hardware store.

Well, I'll ask the obvious. Are you at a place where natural gas is available? You can't bottle natural gas, as far as I know, so it must be piped to you. Others may know more.

thanks milzat, ill take a look at the furnace. Im sure i saw a natural gas option on it or in the manual. I guess if not I gotta buy a new furnace..
windrider, yup got service to the lot. no meter though. line goes into the ground and dunno where it goes from there so have to put a new line from new meter underground to under the trailer probably.

Good and Bad news everyone! I have a suburban P-40 (lol sounds like the gun) and it can be natural gas! the bad news, the orifiace for it is missing... So i guess i call forest river and try it.

You can probably get the orfice at a plumbing ad heating store that deals with NG furnaces etc. Most sell the orfices to change BBQ's over.

will i got the orifice but the plumbers want 2-5 thousand to hook it up.
