Furrion camera installation

I know that my trailer is pre-wired for a Furrion rear camera. My tow vehicle has a full screen audio head unit already equipped with rear camera inputs. Has anyone found a way to link the trailer camera to a non-Furrion display monitor?

I tried this with another camera. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RVIZQMG..._6QfKzb2NH1WE3

I have not had a lot of luck. It cuts in and out a lot even when I ran the transmitter to the front of the trailer. Works fine parked but not so good driving.

I ended up buying the furrion and using its display screen. There are some other higher end cameras around. Not sure how they integrate.

Let us know if you find something better.

Short answer is yes. Unfortunately the furrion prewire would be useless. You use a generic camera capable of being run by your head unit plus a disconnectable trailer wiring kit. The system is basically hardwired from the very back of your trailer to the front of it, a secondary disconnectable plug between the trailer and truck, then the truck is hardwired all the way up to the head unit.

Your trailer is wired for a "camera" but the only thing Furrion is the mounting system. The "pre-wire" consists of 12v positive and ground wires tapped into the running light system. It has a connector that mates to the Furrion. Most folks just cut the connector off and splice the wires into whatever camera system they have.

Your vehicle display is probably a hard wired unit only. It's not compatible with any wireless camera unless you install an additional converter. As far as installing a complete hard wired camera system, good luck with that (unless you can get to the trailer before the exterior and interior panels are installed at the factory).

I ordered this late last summer:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

To send a camera to my Android tablet as a viewer. It works good in test so far, but I have not used it on the road. We bought a few hard wired cameras for our Jayco Hybrid and I never mounted them because we decided to upgrade TT This past winter. We pick up a new 26DBH-L and I intend to hardwire in the Furrion mount and use this wifi gizmo to homebrew something.
