Furrion Camera only on while in Reverse?
I just put in my (presumably plug and play) FRC12TAPK-BL Observation camera for backup and high speed on my 2017 Surveyor and it will on only come on when I am in reverse. I assume it is factory wired into the back up lights but want it to be on all the time (at least when the running lights are on)
I was going to try to power in into the top center marker light but before I started poking around, wanted to see if anyone else already fixed my problem.
Any input would be appreciated
Thanks!

Remove unit from mount and remove mount, you will find the power wire to the unit pushed back in hole, disconnect it from the backup wire and tape the backup wire off. Now remove one of your running lights (upper) and connect the camera to it. Now when running lights are on the camera is also.

Hooked mine (after market camera) up to running light power. Drilled a small hole in bottom of lens for wire to exit. Scotchlok connectors worked nicely, no cutting wires.

I bought the FOS48TA-BL RV, now waiting for the RV mtg kit. I'm going to place it about the center light in my coachman. Then I'm picking up 12V off the bath fan, then when traveling all I have to do is turn on the switch!!

I would use one that dries clear that way your headaches with trying to match the colors will be illuminated!

My factory one works with the running lights on. FYI, there are 2 types of this camera-backup and observation. The backup constantly cuts out while driving(good for slow speeds and the obvious backing up.

You need the "48" model for observation while going down the road. The"12" model only works as a backup camera. I put the "48" model on my 43' 5er and it works fairly well while traveling for observation.

FRC12TAPK-BL is a backup camera only model, (RC is for reverse camera)it is not an observation camera!
If you want a camera that does backup and observation as well while traveling down the road you will need model FOS48TA-BL (OS is for observation system.)
even if you wire yours to the running lights, it will cut on and off driving you crazy. The processor on the FOS48TA is faster anf will not cut out while traveling at highway speeds.

Backup camera wireing
I put 2 diodes to each circuit 1 to backup wire and 1 to taillights and to power on camera. It will come on when backing and when lights are on without shorting together. I would draw a diagram but i cant figure how on this post.

I'd recommend that you mount it below the top light rather than above. I read that the light from the running light would wash out the camera if the camera is mounted above the light. My mount is below from the factory.

I have the Garmin RV GPS that came with a camera. I just made 2 separate power points and mounted them under the rear bumper. One is an always on power that is connected to one of my upfitter switches and the other is connected to my reverse lights. When not hooked up to the trailer I just have the camera clipped to my plate with the reverse power hooked up. When the trailer is connected I just mount the camera on the back of the trailer, I have an extension already ran underneath the trailer, and have it hooked up to the upfitter switch power. That way I can monitor behind me anytime I like or have the GPS display up. Works very well and takes all of 15 seconds to swap out.
