Generator Box For 5th Wheel Trailer.

Hi,

This may be of interest to some of you who do not have a fixed generator in your RV.

Last year we had a generator box custom built for our 5th wheel trailer. We used it on our Yukon and Alaska trip last summer and it all works great.

First I extended (and added a second bumper) the bumper with 1/16 4 inch tubing. Then had the generator box built to fit our EF2400iSHC.

The box is made from aluminum and is fairly tough. It has air intake and exhaust vent to fit the generator.

I made up a 10ft cord to plug the generator in to the trailer.

If it rains I can still run the unit with the door half open.

The idea with this whole thing was to be able to run the unit from a fixed place. Now the wife can just go out and start it up, no moving or carrying it around. Works great. More pictures

Cheers, Anders

Really like the generator box. This is what I did in preparation for my trip to Alaska this summer. I took two cargo carriers and spliced them. I also added two extra 2" receivers to the frame for stability. I lock the generator to the frame with cable and protect it with a form fitting water proof cover.

Thanks Kampnnit.

Your unit looks great. Well done!

We also have a cable inside the box locking up the generator. There is also a lock on the box itself. I further had two eye loops made inside for tiedowns so the generator does not bounce around.

Cheers,
