Generator for Grey Wolf TT

I recently purchased a 2014 28' Grey Wolf TT. I'm looking to get a generator to run the TT, I don't want to get anything too small, and also not get one that is more that we need. Any suggestions on what you recommend? This would be to run the whole TT . I'm thinking it has to be in the 3k to 4500 watt range. I hear the Hondas are super quiet.

I have all Honda's 3500W,5000W,and 6500W. We've used them for emergency home power and camping.

Then I went out and bought the twin 2000W with parallel cable. Much easier to deal with, super quiet, very light.

Haven't tried with my 13 Cedar Creek. I did with my 03 Cardinal with ref and water heater on gas.

I have a champion 3500 they sell for about $300 and it runs my 30 foot Rockwood no problem. Can run over 10 hours on 4 gal of gas. Great little unit for the price. It is quieter than most brands unless you need one that is super quiet.

we do a lot of camping at race tracks with no hookups and have seen a lot of different setups as far as generators and imo you need at least 3600w and at better 4000w to run every thing in your camper. yes you can run ac or microwave or hairdryer on 3000w and it should work but i have seen more people have trouble with them . i have 4000w onan and can run any thing at any time and never had a problem. Not getting into brand and price wars as if you do a search on this forum you can find more than enough info on that. just saying from what i have seen no matter what brand buy i would not have less than 4000w if you expect to actually use it to power all systems in your camper

The honda's are super quiet. The 3000 is a good size but at 134# it's not easy to move around. I bought 2, EU2000I's (one is the companion with the 30amp plug) for the same price as one 3000w. Now I use one most of the time to power most of the unit. I use the two cabled together for 4000w to run the A/C. At 50# each they are very handy.

you have two basic choices, do you want cheap or do you want quiet?
cheap is loud and quiet is expensive.

the Champion 3500 is the winner for power and price.
BUT it's an open-framed construction-style non-inverter generator.
it's perfect for boondocking or at the motor races.
BUT it doesn't belong in a campground, unless your neighbors are far away. nor are they good for sensitive electronics.

an inverter generator will be way quieter, use much less fuel and will work fine with sensitive electronics. Honda and Yamaha are the Gold Standard.

but there are a number of new Chinese-made ones that can rival in low decibel ratings and power, but are much cheaper. Champion makes 2 different models, the 2000w and the new 3100w. Kipor was the first Chinese made one that went up against the Red and Blue teams.
Boliy is another one that has been around long enough to prove itself.
all the other Chinese made ones haven't been around enough to show whether they can compete.

Just don't buy based on the surge rating, you need a constant rating. Your camper is the same model as mine, and on park 30 amp service I can run everything without ever tripping a breaker. So... math time boys and girls... 30 amps X 120 volts = 3600 watts.

You need 3600 watts continuous run time to run everything. You can probably get away with 3000 continuous, but wouldn't be able to run air conditioner and microwave at the same time

True.....but simply don't run everything. You have plenty of power to run your air conditioner with 30 amps. Don't run for example your water heater on electric at the same time, keep fridge and water heater on gas and turn off the A/C if you want to run your microwave or an electric coffee pot or toaster. A/C and lights?....no problem. A/C and large flat screen TV?....pushing it.

Also consider if the campsite power drops to 110v as it does often, the same 3600 watts requires 33 amps so leave some leaway here in your calculations.

I'm very energy conscience with power and water while camping especially on battery. I admit I'm not so much at home as we all should be.

3500 would be bare bare minimum!
That's 3500 running watts not surge watts.
Keep I'm mind thats @ 120 volts.
