Glad I didn't listen to FR

I was told twice, by two different employees, that there was a 3/8 inch OSB backer board in my entertainment area that I could use to install my TV mount. I was worried because my stud finder wasn't registering anything other than the studs, so I decided to change my TV mount to one that'd mount to a single stud and not mount it dead center, but moved over to the stud. Thank goodness I trusted my gut and not the manufacturer! 2 holes hit the stud, one hit a backer, but 2 hit absolutely nothing!!

Here's to hoping it holds on!!

Had similar experience when mounting the TV over the fire place in my 2019 FSX 260RT.
Mounted it right where the sticker was claiming 'backer board'...4 of the 6 lag bolts it solid material...2 just spun forever.
Makes one not to sure about attempting to mount a TV in the bed room...so I haven't...yet!

It took me nearly 2 weeks to muster the courage to put the first hole in the wall. Now I realize my spidey senses were spot on!!

I always take my TV down when I move my trailer. I don't trust the area where FR mounted the bracket. Just rapping it with my knuckles, it sounds like no studs or anything else then the thin wall. At some point I will put a nice decorative piece of board over the area that screws into the studs and mount the bracket on it.

Glad you got it installed OK. Doesn't make sense that they wouldn't have a stud and decent sized backboard for a TV mount centered in your entertainment area. Sounds like there was a backer board but just not as big as you were lead to believe and not centered?

BTW, Forest River makes A LOT of different brands of varying quality and price points. Your Wildwood X-Lite is just one of them, so saying "FR" (Forest River) paints a very big brush across all brands. That's not to say some other brands wouldn't also steer you wrong on that kind of inquiry but some are better than others.
