It wasn't as fancy as the tape shown here, but back in my crazy kid days, my buddies and I would put red reflective tape on the rear bumpers (yeah cars back then had both front and rear bumpers) not for safety purposes, but because it was thought to be "Cool"

glows for 3-4 hours but if its pitch black outside you will still see it long after that just slowly fades till a light hits it again
