Hung a two bike rack on the lite but I took the spare tire and mount off, hauled the spare in the bed.
Bought this one.

Went from Idaho to South Dakota to The Grand Canyon and back with out an issue.
But that is my unit, are there any stickers on the bumper of your unit?

Mine is rated to 300#, at a 100 pound rating a spare is all I would keep back there.
Have you thought about a front mounted bike rack?

Will do some checking and removing my spare to the trailer or tow vehicle would not be a problem.

Most ultralight trailers have bumpers with thin metal and weak welds.

Loly50, this is very hot topic on the forum. I suggest you do a search on "bike rack" and you'll have reading material for over a week on that one topic.

Lots of good advice about making sure your bumper will handle it but also make sure you find a good quality bike rack that is suitable for RV use. Several years ago I was researching the same thing and found that a lot of bike rack manufactures say "not for use on RV's" at the time we bought a Swagman brand and it has held up well.

Bike Rack for 318BHS

I installed a Swagman 64663 along with the 4Square RV Bumper Struts over a year ago. We haul two bikes and have driven some fairly rough roads since then totaling over five thousand miles with no issues.
I did remove the spare tire and carrier to remove that weight from the bumper.
I'm not saying this will work for everyone and I'm not interested in rehashing all the weight limitations of some bumpers. I have fabricating experience and made the assessment on mine this should be structurally fine and so far it has been. I do inspect the welds and brackets on a regular basis to make sure nothing is failing. I am just offering this information as loly50 ask a question directly relating to our Make and Model. I hope this is of help to loly50 and other who may have the Lacrosse 318BHS.

don't forget the front
hey,
we were trying to figure out a solution for taking our bikes. found out there was a bolt-on front mount 2" receiver hitch, so now we push our bicycles and pull our camper. something to consider.

We already had a bike rack that mounts in our 2 inch receiver so we got this rack that mounts over the propane tanks with a 2 inch receiver to use our existing bike rack. I can see the bikes and they are not bouncing like they would hanging off the back bumper.

If you haven't looked into it, consider a front hitch on your tow vehicle. I mounted a bike rack in this manner on a 2013 Chevy 2500 and a 2016 Ford 150. Had no problems with either.

I am looking to carry 2 bicycles as well but I was wondering if there is any sort of bracket that attaches to the spare tire itself? Not sure if such thing even exists but it would be a good idea just to mount it to the log pattern of the wheel.

You don't say what model RV you have. If you have an ultra lite anything, you probably don't want to attach anything to the spare tire or the bumper if it already has a spare tire attached to it. In addition, bikes on the back of a towed unit can take a beating.

Google is your friend. Just type in " bike rack spare tire mount" and you'll find many different types.
But as others have said make sure your mount can take the beating.

I just added the Stromberg Carlson front mont to mine and a platform 2" receiver rack. I love it. No worries about number and I can see my bikes and know they are still there.

We bought our used Rockwood Mini Lite knowing that the bathroom floor had been rebuilt by the dealer because the original owner ignored all the warnings and attached a bike rack to the rear bumper. There are no shocks in a camper and the vibrations, weight and wind wreaked havoc on the camper floor. Needles to say, the original owner traded it in; dealer did a great job on the repair; and we got a great deal on a 4 year old Mini-lite. Our bikes are the last things to go inside the trailer and the first things to come out when we hut the rode. I put old socks on the pedals and use our couch pillows and throw rug as padding to protect the camper. No mud on the bikes; no extra weight on the tongue. Works for us.
