I don't think x10 will accept or work for 12 volt dc as the electric valves use, but I still think there are options along this line of thought.

They actually have a electric gate valve for the waste water dumps.
My loval dealer sells them.

I saw the valves on CW. How did you integrate the control? I am not familiar with the awning remotes, I'm ruffling it there
