Hardwired XM to AWM968
It's not much, but I figured I would share my first official 'mod'. I've got a Stealth 1913 with a Jensen AWM 968 stereo. I also have an XM radio in a cradle that requires AC power.
Prior to the mod, I tucked an inverter into the control cabinet (which has a lighter socket) next to the radio, piled about 15 feet of extra cables in with it, and plugged the XM audio output into the Aux jack on the front of the Jensen. It worked, but the inverter drew way too much power for this tiny application, the wires looked awful and the aux audio cable was just asking to be snagged and ripped apart by someone walking by.
So - I purchased a 12V hardwire kit for the XM unit (about 8 bucks on Amazon), and drilled a small hole in the shelf directly above the Jensen. I pulled the radio out, spliced the hard-wire kit into the 12V for the radio an connected an RCA-to-Headphone cable to the Aux-1 In on the back of the Jensen. I ran those cables through the hole, slipped the radio back in and now have the set up shown in the picture. It's clean - and it works really well.
Just me, my girlfriend and our crazy Boxer Stella.
