Have you added diamond plate

I am wanting to add a diamond plate skin on the nice of my Flagstaff. I have seen a few with it done, as well as just about every toy hauler out there and I like it. Have any of you added this to your trailer? Here is a picture of one like mine done...

I added it to our last RV. Got hold of some thin diamond plate and some 1/8"x3/4" rectangular bar and a 1¼" aluminum threshold and put the diamond plate on the front and used the bar stock up the sides and the threshold across the top of the plate. Looked great once I got it done.

Is the purpose of that purely for looks? I guess technically it could absorb hits from rocks /debris better, but do you really trash your trailer with that anyhow?

It is aesthetically pleasing in my opinion, but on the other side of things it is for rock/gravel protection. I do not trash my things, but my truck is tall with big tires, and no mud/rock flaps. And living, and traveling in the Southwest, lets face it.. It's a desert, so kicking up rocks and gravel just about anywhere you travel is a normal occurrence. The fiberglass skin on the outside of the trailer is easily punctured, so the added protection against potential future holes is good insurance to me..
