That's exactly what happened to my 2005 Flagstaff (8528GTSS) bumper OC. The tube bumper twisted from the weight of the carrier and gen, the frame actually pushed into the bumper and the bumper ripped at the weld. I was also told by Forest River/Flagstaff that it would/could tweak the frame and cause the floor to loosen near the back of the FW. And believe it or not, after the damage to the bumper, the floor just inside the door had a squeak in it like it had loosened a bit and had some movement in it.

This is the basket on my Puma. It is a beast, but invaluable since I no longer have a pickup truck...

The stock bumper was cut off and a new 1/4" square stock bumper was installed. It was reinforced to the frame, and it sits high enough that it clears anything I might encounter. It is removable as it is attached with two receivers. I have more pictures if anyone needs ideas.
